Affiliate disclosure

CompareYourGPU is built to earn commission from retailer links. This page explains exactly how that works and, more importantly, what it is structurally prevented from influencing.

Last updated

The short version

Some links may earn us a commission. It costs you nothing extra, and it has no effect on which graphics card the site recommends, because commission is not a field in the data the scoring reads.

Current status

No affiliate URL is configured for any product at the time of writing, which means no affiliate link currently appears anywhere on this site. Where a purchase section has no configured link, it says so rather than rendering a button that goes nowhere.

This page describes how the system will work once retailer programmes are approved, so that the disclosure is in place before the first link is.

What an affiliate link is

An affiliate link is an ordinary link to a retailer that carries a tag identifying CompareYourGPU as the referrer. If you follow one and buy something, the retailer pays us a small commission. The price you pay is exactly the same as it would be otherwise.

Affiliate links on this site are marked with rel="sponsored nofollow" and open in a new tab, and a short disclosure is shown next to every block of them.

Why it cannot influence a ranking

This is worth stating precisely rather than as a promise of good behaviour. Every ranking on CompareYourGPU is computed from a graphics card's specification and price data by the rules set out on the methodology page. A card record has no field for commission rate, retailer relationship or referral value, and the scoring functions read no such field, because none exists.

The practical consequence is that a card with no retailer link at all can, and does, win categories over cards that would earn us money. Adding an affiliate URL to a product changes exactly one thing: a button appears on its page.

Programmes we intend to join

The retailers configured in the system, none of which currently has a live affiliate URL:

  • Amazon (US) - commission-earning once approved.
  • Newegg (US) - commission-earning once approved.
  • Best Buy (US) - commission-earning once approved.

Amazon Associates

Where Amazon links are used, the following disclosure applies: PLACEHOLDER_AMAZON_ASSOCIATE_DISCLOSURE. This must be replaced with the exact wording required by the Amazon Associates Operating Agreement for the relevant locale before any Amazon link goes live.

Prices and availability

CompareYourGPU does not publish current street prices, because it has no verified price feed. Prices shown on the site are launch MSRP and are labelled as such. We make no claim about what a product costs today or whether it is in stock: check the retailer.

We will not present a discount, a stock status or a limited-time offer that we have not verified, regardless of what an affiliate feed makes available.
